John Patrick Hayden, Irish Parliamentary Party MP. A large silver cigarette box presented "on the occasion of his marriage - from his sincere friends at Aughavanagh - Feb. 1912" London, 1911, maker's mark 'P.W', 9½" (24cm) wide, 4½" (11.5cm) high, 5¼" (13.5cm) deep. JP Hayden was Irish Parliamentary Party MP for South Roscommon and editor and proprietor of the Westmeath Examiner, his "friends at Aughavanagh" were probably his party leader, John Redmond and his wife Ada, who owned the former RIC barracks in the Co. Wicklow village.
